Is everyone ready for Thanksgiving?? I must admit, I am late this year on planning my own Thanksgiving menu. My mom and I are just finalizing the menu THIS week! That’s cutting it close for us! For the past several years I’ve only had to worry about pies and sweets, but this year we’re making some savory things as well.
We had our first snow of the season a few days ago and I am not a happy camper. It went from sunny and 80 degrees to white and 18 degrees in less than 24 hours! What is that!! I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. I am already starting to think of my Thanksgiving menu PLUS which pies to make!
Well, the news is out folks! I WROTE A BOOK! It’s a cookbook about all things PIE! I am finally able to announce it to the world as pre-orders start now! The book had 50 seasonal pie recipes. Some savory, some sweet. Some classic and of COURSE some unique.
I love tres leches. It’s a soaked spongecake topped with whipped cream and usually served with fresh fruit. “Tres leches” meaning three milks, is what the cake is soaked in. Usually this means sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and half & half, but for this recipe I substituted strawberry puree for one of the milks. It really gives the whole cake a fresh strawberry-milk flavor! Top with whipped cream and served with fresh strawberries and you’ll be in strawberry heaven.
