Chocolate banana bread with cream cheese filling

Chocolate Banana Bread

  • 2.5 oz canola oil
  • 5 oz sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 mashed bananas
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 7 oz flour
  • 1 oz cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp cinnamon

Cream Cheese Swirl

  • 5 oz cream cheese, room temp
  • 1 egg
  • 2 oz sugar
  • 2 Tbsp flour


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (176C).
  • Start by making the cream cheese swirl. Mix the cream cheese and sugar together until there are no clumps. Whisk in the egg, and the fold in the flour until smooth. Put into a piping bag and set aside.
  • Next, make the chocolate banana bread.
  • Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
    In a standing mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, combine oil and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time until well combined. Next, add mashed banana. Lastly, add flour mixture. Mix until there are no clumps remaining.
  • Pour into greased loaf pan (9”x5”).
  • Next, pipe the cream cheese mixture into the chocolate banana batter. Swirl with a toothpick, or a knife.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the middle comes out clean.
    For best texture and to keep moist, cool completely before cutting open. Enjoy!
