In the midst of this busy July, I was able to make it back home to California for the weekend to catch up with my dad, step family, and some friends. I had such a blast eating lots of great food, and just relaxing. My favorite place we went to was a restaurant in DTLA called “Preux & Proper.” Upscale, southern food, YES PLEASE! Dishes like fried game hen, spicy orechiette, shrimp gumbo, scallop ceviche. I’m pretty sure we ate about half of the menu. But it’s vacation right?? No big deal. Another day I met up with some friends from high school and went to the beach! I can’t tell you how long it had been. YEARS. Well, it was as if I had never been before, because I got a ridiculous sunburn all over my back side. It basically looks like I’ve gotten spray painted pink. And this week its back to work while nursing my bright pink burn.
I have a fantastic recipe to share this week. My cherry butterscotch bar. YOU MUST TRY THESE. I’m sticking with the cherry theme because it’s quickly become my favorite summer fruit of 2017. Last year they were nectarines, but I’ve been very disappointed with nectarines this year. If you live in Colorado, and you haven’t eaten a cherry yet this summer, GO GET SOME!
Cherry is a perfect compliment to butterscotch. Just a little bit of acidity with the highly addicting butterscotch flavor, I promise these will not disappoint.
